Be sure to make a stop at The Beach Hut for some great burgers and ice cream after a day out on the water.
Pelican Lake – Stretching nearly 30 kilometres, Pelican Lake offers plenty of room to explore. Its calm waters, sandy beaches, and numerous bays make it an excellent choice for paddlers of all experience levels. Book a stay in one of the nearby geodesic domes at Moonlit Canopy in Belmont for a truly memorable experience!
Oak Lake Beach – Known for its warm water and laid-back atmosphere, Oak Lake is a popular summer destination. Paddle along the shoreline, enjoy views of cottages and wildlife, or simply soak up the sunshine on this beautiful prairie lake. Looking to make a weekend of it? Check out Aspen Grove Campground, which offers a great variety of camping options and on-site activities for families.
Minnedosa Lake – Located in the heart of Minnedosa, this scenic lake is perfect for a leisurely paddle. With the nearby beach, campground, and surrounding attractions, it’s easy to spend an entire day enjoying everything the area has to offer. Take a quick stroll across the flags of the nation bridge into town for some tasty treats at The Dari Isle Drive-In – then make a stop at the Minnedosa Heritage Village Museum on your way back.

Spruce Woods Provincial Park – Known for its wide-open skies and minimal light pollution, it’s an ideal spot for stargazing after a day of hiking or camping.
Turtle Mountain Provincial Park – Spend the evening at one of the park’s campgrounds or lakes and enjoy peaceful, star-filled skies surrounded by nature. The dock at William Lake in the park has some of the most unreal views of the open sky in the area!
Pelican Lake – Find a quiet stretch of shoreline, settle into a lawn chair, and watch the stars reflect on the calm water.
Riding Mountain National Park – Surrounded by forests, lakes, and rolling hills, Riding Mountain National Park is a spectacular place to end the day beneath a sky full of stars.

Lake Metigoshe – Surrounded by forest and water, Lake Metigoshe offers a beautiful setting to unwind and watch the day’s final light fade across the lake.
Bald Hill – Climb to one of Westman’s highest points for sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and an unforgettable prairie sunset. The Bald Hill Trail is about 14 km round trip (3 hours). If you’re hiking for sunset, pack a headlamp, bear spray, plenty of water, and bug spray for your return hike.
Your Favourite Quiet Country Road – Sometimes the most memorable sunsets happen where you least expect them. Pull over safely, take a moment to soak it all in, and enjoy the beauty of a spectacular prairie sunset.

Places to Lace Up Your Hiking Boots:
William Lake Provincial Park – Explore the Turtle’s Back Trail on your way to Turtle’s Back summit and enjoy spectacular view of southwestern Manitoba. The summit is the range’s prominent hill which is visible for many miles from the north and east. The trail passes through Turtle Mountain Community Pasture where local livestock roam and graze. Steep elevation near the summit makes this trail a challenging yet rewarding hike.
Brandon Hills Wildlife Management Area – Discover wooded trails, open meadows, and abundant wildlife just minutes from Brandon, making it a favourite destination for nature lovers.
Eternal Springs – This hidden gem near Virden features peaceful walking trails, a picturesque swinging bridge, stocked trout ponds, and a natural spring, making it the perfect destination for a relaxing nature walk.
Spirit Sands (Spruce Woods Provincial Park) – Experience one of Manitoba’s most unique landscapes as you hike through towering sand dunes, prairie grasslands, and the famous Devil’s Punch Bowl.
