Event Details
Justina McKay is a Brandon based artist, originally from Minagoziibi Anishinaabe First Nation. While her enduring interest is in merging traditional, modern, and contemporary methods of Indigenous art-making, this series confronts the disturbing truth that women, girls, and two-spirit folks who are Indigenous are six times more likely to be made missing or murdered, and memorializes those who have. Organized by the Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery in partnership with the Nickle Galleries (Calgary, AB), Art Gallery of Swift Current (Swift Current, SK), Plug-In Institute of Contemporary Art (Winnipeg, MB) and Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Brandon, MB).
