In 1907 a dam was proposed and approved by the Government of Canada to be built on the Little Saskatchewan River near Minnedosa. The town became the second community in Manitoba to generate its own hydroelectric power.

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, by following the coordinates you enter into your GPS. You and your friends and family can hunt for hidden caches located throughout Southwestern Manitoba and the rest of the world. Geocaching is enjoyed by people of all ages with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.
