This one-of-a-kind attraction features Canada’s largest collection of operating vintage farm machinery dating back to the late 1880’s to present day. 26th Field Regiment RCA/XII Manitoba Dragoons Museum (Brandon)  Member of Tourism Westman

Housed on the main floor of the historical Brandon Armoury, this museum exhibits a variety of military and civilian artifacts, memorabilia, library and archives. Home of the XII Manitoba Dragoons and 26 Field Regiment Royal Canadian Artillery Regimental Histories, This Museum records, conserves and protects the history of the servicemen and women and the military units of South West Manitoba. The Museum annually awards a trophy to the Cadets of Brandon and Virden for historical knowledge of those unit. The Collection of Dr. William Hurd of Brandon University is housed in this museum.  On display in this museum is the Susan Armstrong, the founding director-general of the Missing Children's Network OC and QGJM which have been loaned to the Museum.  Also displayed is the Jack Bennett Collection a former Royal Artillery Gunner who was a POW in WWII, the collection is an extraordinary selection of unit badges.  The Museum provides help to the public with research and provides information to families on service from the Boar War to the Afghanistan War. The library has several thousand volumes of books on many a diverse subject.  The museum is an excellent source of information and should be visited.

Such was the scenario when the Carberry Plains area was established by European settlers from Eastern Canada. Visit the Carberry Plains Museum to touch and feel early prairie life. The extensive artifact collections include paintings from the eccentric Criddle-Vane family and memorabilia from famous former residents Tommy Douglas, Stanley Knowles and WWI pilot Wop May. The Museum also includes our unique gingerbread house, a stunning tribute to a fanciful architectural style. One of only three in Canada.

Manitoba Automobile Museum (Elkhorn)  Member of Tourism Westman

Displays over 100 automobiles from the turn of the century to the 1970’s, including many rare and unique vehicles such as the Marmon car that was returned to the Museum in 2007 for display after being restored. The Museum also features an extensive agricultural display featuring steam engines and turn of the century farm equipment, a Robert Clarke Indian artifact collection as well as many other collectibles. On July 1st, the museum hosts a Pioneer Day, which includes a pancake breakfast, antique car parade, machinery, threshing demonstrations, and many other activities for young and old. Since Riding Mountain National Park was first declared a forest reserve in 1895, people have recognized the scenic beauty of the area, the importance of habitat for wildlife, and the potential for recreation and relaxation.

Riding Mountain National Park is where eastern, western and northern Canada meet to create a unique and majestic 3,000 sq km environment of towering white spruce, hardwood forests and prairie grasslands. It is home to some of North America’s largest elk, moose and black bears. The park offers unique experiences for families, photographers, birders and wildlife enthusiasts.

Wasagaming, the parks historic town located on the shores of Clear Lake, offers a full range of visitor services and events. Wasagaming offers a great selection of accommodations, a visitor centre, boat rentals, a great beach experience, restaurants and shopping to name just a few.

Campgrounds can be found throughout the park. There are endless opportunities for recreation in Riding Mountain. A extensive trail system offers scenic routes for hiking, biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and birding. Over 400 km of hiking, biking and horseback trails and 260 km of cross-country ski trails are available. A small bison herd and exhibit is kept at Lake Audy, viewing is best in the morning or evening. Riding Mountain is a must for those looking for that family getaway.

The RCA Museum (Shilo) Manitoba Star Attraction  Member of Tourism Westman

Canada’s National Artillery Museum, a Manitoba Star Attraction and one of the best military museums in Canada. The RCA Museum tells the story of Canadian military history since colonial times through 5 indoor galleries in a 24,000 square foot facility. Indoor exhibits include the Victoria Crosses of two Manitobans along with 28 artillery pieces and military vehicles. 28 more guns displayed outdoors with a picnic area and a geo-cache.
